Hello (again) - we'll make this a short greeting because there's real substance upon which we should center our future conversations.

With great pride, zeal, and hope, we introduce to you BioCapInvest, LLC.
With great pride, zeal, and hope, we introduce to you BioCapInvest, LLC.

Almost six years ago, I stepped down from my position as CEO and Managing Director of CBPartners, a biopharmaceuticals commercial strategy consulting firm I founded with my business partner.  There are simply too many anecdotes and lessons (both of the business and life variety) from those years to effectively communicate why that decision ultimately made sense.  After nearly two decades of working across commercial, clinical, financial, and policy disciplines within the biopharmaceutical industry, it was simply time for a break.

During this time away, there have been numerous serious world and industry events / affairs that affected our colleagues and families, both in our offices and homes.  I considered citing them, but I couldn’t possibly do justice to the phrase 'the world has turned' in one or one hundred blog posts.  So, we'll skip that part.

However, I will say one thing has remained the same - our patients still need us.  And with the extraordinary technological advances that have seized the depths of our imaginations, there are real answers to those needs.  Real.  As in, we can accelerate the resolution of patients' unmet needs at a pace we have never before seen in our lifetimes.

But those solutions aren't just there for the taking - they require leaders.  And those leaders need runway, support, and enablement.

And so, with great pride, zeal, and hope - I introduce to you our labor of love, BioCapInvest, LLC.  As the name may lead you to surmise, we focus on providing capital to privately-held life sciences companies.  While that is broadly correct, we emphasize that we invest in our entrepreneurial leaders just as much as we do their auspicious assets.  People make the product, and we enable them to execute their commercial plans.  We offer our expertise through opinions, not demands.  We make experience-based suggestions, not decisions.  We believe in our entrepreneurs, and their vision.

Like some firms, we also focus on 'advanced therapies' and 'digital health platforms'.  Anyone in our industry could tell you that there's no shortage of companies in these categories, and it is our mission to find the leaders who can translate our support into the greatest clinical and commercial breakthroughs.

Finally, we will focus on seed-stage financing for these companies and their assets, as we feel this is where we can deliver the greatest value to our entrepreneurs.  For a firm at the beginning of our journey, this simply makes the most sense - and as greater capital needs are encountered, we turn to our individual and institutional partners to create investment syndicates.

Stay tuned here and on our website (www.biocapinvest.com) for more updates - and until then, let's get that coffee (or tea) to share our stories and aspirations.
